Prologue - Departing South Africa for Canada

Finally the "Big Wait" ended, and the eagerly awaited day arrived, accompanied by each of our two large bags and our boxed mountain bikes, we departed Prince Albert by Land Rover. Travelled the 400 km to Cape Town International Airport, where Richard and Denise dropped us off, for our 14 hour flight to Newark International Airport (USA).

We booked in relatively early, due to the bikes, we wanted to ensure that they were loaded on the same flight as us.  Then fortunately, we had an uneventful flight in a United Airlines Boeing 787 to the USA, even though the flight had initially been delayed by two hours.

This was followed by a 13 hour stop-over at Newark, most of it spent at the United Lounge, resting, eating and drinking, before catching our next 5 hour flight to Vancouver International Airport (Canada).

Flew in a United Air Boeing 737, landed in Vancouver and were met by Gregory and Gale, our hosts for the next five days in Vancouver, before we continue our journey north, to our final destination of Inuvik, in the Arctic Circle.

Off loading the bikes at Cape Town International Airport.

Unloaded and off to book in on our United Air Flight

Nearly didn't make the flight due to "Trolley Discrimination".

Resting up in the United Lounge before our next flight to Vancouver.
