Vancouver - Day 1

We wake up to our first day in Vancouver, fortunately not as jet-lagged as we thought we would be. Our hosts, Gregory and Gale take us off to Deep Cove for some sightseeing and a quick breakfast, followed by a walk in the Demonstration Forest, to get the legs up and running.

On our way to do some shopping at the Outdoor Store, we stop off at The Funk Brewing Company, to do a tasting of their available brews, all most delicious, with not a bad brew amongst any of the offerings.  Hopefully the first of many brewery visits and tastings.

Proceeded to MEC Stores, where we purchased a suitable Canadian 3-Weather Tent, Sleeping Mattress, Cycling Rain Jackets and other odds and ends.  Now ready to go, for our planned 60 days of camping, throughout Canada and the USA.

Then it was off to the Public Market on Granville Island, located between Vancouver City and North Vancouver, previously an industrial wasteland, now populated with many Art & Craft Shops, Food Markets, Art Galleries and Restaurants.

Checked out the Federation of Canadian Artists Gallery, where Gale has one of her paintings displayed, titled "The Love Letter" which won her a first prize in the current exhibition.

We wondered around this rich artistic and cultural hub, sampling some of the many culinary delights on offer, and finally having dinner at the Sand Bar Restaurant.
